The Karen Country Club is a family oriented club, founded in 1937 and prides itself in being one of the oldest golf clubs in Kenya. A large part of the 18-hole course was built on the former coffee estate developed by the Danish pioneer Karen Blixen, whose life and times were depicted in the lyrical film `Out of Africa`. Indeed, the shade trees from her coffee plantation still dominate parts of the golf course, eighty years after they were planted. The course is superbly maintained with greens built to the Professional Golf Association (PGA) standards. The Club has been host to the prestigious Barclays Kenya Open for the past three consecutive years. Despite Nairobi`s temperate climate, you can play golf 365 days in a year in comfort, an intangible asset that few golf courses in the world can claim.

Job purpose

• This role is responsible for ensuring that the Club’s audio visual facilities are professionally set up, operated, maintained, and repaired for use in live events, such as concerts, sports, games, business conventions, meetings, webinars, and distance learning.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Handling, setting up, and installing media equipment and audio-visual support tools, including speakers, monitors, cameras, tv sets, sound amplifiers and equipment racks.
• Setting up and performing electrical or audio wiring, programming, and basic construction according to layout diagrams and schedules.
• Developing good relationships with clients to keep production moving through event coordinators.
• Running tests on videos, audio, and signals and troubleshooting any problems that arise.
• Meeting clients’ standards by handling equipment malfunctions and executing a flawless event.
• Disassembling equipment, wiring, and support tools in a safe manner.
• Performing inventory management on equipment, wiring, and accessories.
• Carrying out any cleaning, maintenance, or repairs on audiovisual equipment.
• Generating expense reports for management.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Diploma in electronics engineering/ audio visual technology or a related field.
• In-depth working knowledge of video conferencing, sound setup and lighting techniques.
• Strong working knowledge of audio-visual editing equipment and software.
• Excellent computer and troubleshooting skills.
• Creativity, attention to detail, and flexibility.
• Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
• The ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
• Physical fitness to transport and set up heavy equipment.
• Good hearing and eyesight.
• Three years’ working experience preferably in the hospitality Industry.
