Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) is a State Corporation established under the Tourism Act 2011 whose objective and purpose is to promote the business of Meetings, Incentives travel, Conferences and Exhibitions also known as MICE. KICC is the largest Convention centre in Eastern Africa with the capacity to hold a large number of delegates

1. Director Corporate Services

JOB GRADE 2

REF: KICC/DCS/2020

The Director Corporate Services shall provide strategic leadership and advice to ensure optimal utilization and management of the corporation’s resources in the functional areas of finance, human resource and administration, and information & communications technology and corporate communications.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate the formulation of administrative policies, systems and procedures for the organization.
  • Establish and maintain sound financial, human resource, administrative, ICT procedures in compliance with statutory regulations.
  • Participating in the preparation of Corporate plans.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership on matter Finance & Accounting, Human Resources, Administration, and ICT.
  • Co-ordination of directorate activities by providing responsible advice and counsel to the corporation.
  • Management and Coordination of Financial Services.
  • Co-ordinate recruitment, deployment, remuneration, staff performance,development and discipline of human resources.
  • Management of assets and services to support each core functions in administration/ logistic requirements to facilitate service delivery.
  • Co-ordinate information exchange with all stakeholders and the public to ensure customer expectations are met.

Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following: Commerce, Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Finance or Accounting, ICT or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Master’s Degree in either: Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources Management, ICT, Public Administration of any other equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Have ten (10) years cumulative relevant work experience, five (5) of which should have been at managerial level in a reputable institution.
  • Certificate in leadership course not lasting less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in computer application.
  • Membership to a relevant professional body and in good standing.
  • Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with and supervise multigenerational staff.
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

2. Housekeeping Manager

JOB GRADE KICC 3

REF: KICC/EHK/2019

The Housekeeping Manager reports to the Director Operations and is responsible for cleanliness, aesthetic of rooms, public area, room set up, decoration, back areas and surrounding at the Convention Centre and asset management.

Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail;

  • Oversee and direct the cleaning activities for the Corporation.
  • Order cleaning materials and new items are to ensure that the workers have the proper tools to perform their job duties.
  • Inform workers about the procedures and policies that have to be followed while cleaning rooms.
  • Approval of department’s expenditure.
  • Development and approval of budgets and expenses.
  • Plans the work of subordinates, monitors and evaluates their performance.
  • Responsible for physical assets assigned by the institution.
  • Ensure standards in room set up are implemented and maintained.
  • Ensure proper scheduling of the departments, keeping in mind the forecast and daily events.
  • Oversees duties of Assistant Housekeeper, Supervisors and Room Stewards.
  • Management and coordination of outsourced cleaning and landscaping service providers.
  • Ensure modern methods, techniques and materials are used to promote efficiency and effectiveness in provision of housekeeping services.

Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:-

  • Master’s Degree in any of the following discipline: Hospitality Management, Hotel Management or any equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
  • Bachelor degree in any of the following disciplines: – Hospitality Management, Hotel Management any equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience three (3) of which should have been at the level of senior officer.
  • Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Demonstrated professional competence in Hotel or Housekeeping management work.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Fulfilling the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

3. Principal ICT officer

JOB GRADE KICC 4

REF: KICC/PIO/2020

The Principal ICT officer reports to the ICT Manager and is responsible for promoting the use of ICT in delivery of services towards realization of the Corporation’s mandate.

 Responsibilities

Business Support

  • Researching, evaluating and recommending new technologies to enhance Corporation’s ICT infrastructure;
  • Developing and coordinating network security measures to ensure the integration of the ICT infrastructure;
  • Researching, planning, implementing and coordinating network infrastructure replacements and upgrades;
  • Coordinating the maintenance of Corporate-wide messaging system, Intranet and Extranet sites for the Corporation (Emails, Websites, Digital Signage, Telecoms);
  • Manage outsourced 3rd Party ICT service providers and ensuring that service delivery is done according to the laid down Service Level Agreements (SLAs);
  • Participating in developing of ICT standard operating procedures;
  • Coordinating development technical specifications for all ICT related purchases;
  • Carrying out periodical modifications on the ICT systems as required and ensure adherence to established ICT standards;
  • Coordinating the identification of procurement needs for the department;
  • Coordinating the preparation of departmental periodic progress reports; and
  • Coordinating the divisional enterprise risk management (ERM) and business continuity management (BCM);

Conference Support

  • Researching, evaluating and recommending new technologies to enhance Corporation’s Conferencing infrastructure;
  • Developing and coordinating the safekeeping of conferencing equipment devising measures to ensure the optimal utilization of the conferencing infrastructure;
  • Researching, planning, implementing and coordinating conferencing infrastructure replacements and upgrades;
  • Coordinating the maintenance of audio-visual, conferencing and public address systems of the corporation;
  • Managing outsourced 3rd party ICT conference service providers, ensuring that service delivery is done according to the laid down Service Level Agreements (SLAs);
  • Participating in developing of ICT conference support standard operating procedures;
  • Coordinating the development of technical specifications for all ICT conferencing equipment and other related services;
  • Carry out periodical modifications on the ICT systems as required and ensure adherence to established ICT standards;
  • Coordinating the identification of procurement needs for the department;
  • Coordinating the preparation of departmental periodic progress reports; and
  • Coordinating the divisional enterprise risk management (ERM) and business continuity management (BCM);

Qualifications

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must:

  • Have six (6) years relevant ICT related work experience, three (3) of which should have been at supervisory level;
  • Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: – Computer Science/Information Technology/Business Information Technology, Telecommunication/Electronic Engineering or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
  • Master’s Degree in any of the following disciplines; Computer Science/Information Technology or any other ICT or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
  • Certification in any of the following CCNA, MCSE/MCTS/MCITP/ITIL/CCNP/SQL;
  • Have some working knowledge of programming;
  • Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Fulfil the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
