As part of our growth strategy, the Company seeks to recruit dynamic, passionate, innovative and result orientated professional to fill the position of Business Development Officer in our Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu, Mombasa, Kitui, Thika, Kakamega, Busia, Siaya, Malindi, Ukunda, Voi, Bungoma, Kisii and Machakos branch offices as per role profile below;

Business Development Officer (Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu, Mombasa, Kitui, Thika, Kakamega, Busia, Siaya, Malindi, Ukunda, Voi,Bungoma, Kisii, Machakos)

Main Purpose of the Job- (Job Summary)

The Business Development Officer will be responsible for prospecting and acquiring new business for Healthcare, life and General Business in line with set company targets and standards; handling of renewal of all existing accounts and maintaining acceptable business retention ratios for all group schemes; and development of General Business, Healthcare, Life products to ensure the group business revenue targets are achieved. Central to this role is building positive and lasting relationships between The Kenyan Alliance Insurance Company and its clients and business partners.

Main Responsibilities

  • Sourcing for new business by identifying and exploiting new business opportunities to achieve growth of General Business, Life and Healthcare through creation of long-term sustainable client, brokers and agents relations.
  • Preparing quotations and proposals, negotiating terms and closing sales
  • Follow-up of quoted business and ensure increased conversion rate
  • Cross marketing across other business lines and exploring opportunities for up-selling
  • Exploring opportunities to develop new markets/ segments in line with company sales strategy from time to time.
  • Preparing relevant periodic production reports
  • Building long term relationship with agents by ensuring all their queries are addressed promptly and relevant technical guidance is provided
  • Setting up meetings, preparing and delivering presentations to potential clients.
  •  Developing and maintaining good working relationships with intermediaries and existing customers
  • Periodically reviews existing products and propose changes with a view to enhancing their quality
  • Carrying out market intelligence to ensure the company is in tandem with the industry trends and adopt product pricing mechanisms that ensure profitability.
  • Setting annual / monthly targets with agents and brokers in your unit.
  • Creating synergy and focus groups in your unit.
  • Recruiting brokers and agents to your units.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by management.

Knowledge & Experience

The candidate must demonstrate and possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant field.
  • Have COP qualification or demonstrate significant progress towards attainment of the same.
  • At least 3 year experience in marketing of General Business, Life and Healthcare products to corporates and organized groups.
  • Self-motivated and able to work as part of a team.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Positive attitude, self-motivated, self-driven and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Good negotiation skills and persuasiveness.
  • Confidence presenting to large groups of people.
  • Trustworthiness and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Good communications skills, both written and verbal.
