Details of HIAS Refugee Trust of Kenya Vacancy Positions & How to Apply.
HIAS is the global Jewish nonprofit organization that protects refugees-including women and children, and ethnic, religious, and sexual minorities-whose lives are in danger for being who they are.
HIAS seeks to recruit suitable, qualified Kenyan facilitators who are interested in facilitating 4 solidarity forums of LGBTQ individuals. The aim of the forum will be to engage the Kenyan and refugee LGBTQ community members on promoting and fostering stronger social ties, and exchanging best practices in navigating the urban area effectively. There are 2 available slots.
Key responsibility:
Facilitate and moderate conversations in forums
Required conditions for application:
- Must be a Kenyan national
- Available to commit time for at least 3 hours per day, for 4 days (4 sessions)
- Should be well integrated to the dynamics and needs of members of the LGBTQ community. Experience interacting with the LGBTQ refugee community is an added advantage
- Proficiency in English and Swahili
- Good working knowledge of the LGBTQ community’s needs and challenges
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong facilitation skills i.e., experience in facilitating focus group discussions (FGDs), community dialogues etc.
