Details of Dipendra Kandel Initiative – Think Tank Vacancy Positions & How to Apply.

The DKI is an international non-governmental and non-profit organization founded in 2018 by Public Innovator Er. Dipendra Kandel. The organization seeks to empower Nepal through its work. Further, the DKI collaborates with a wide array of state, regional, and local stakeholders at national and international level to implement our projects and create bilateral and multilateral synergies that can empower government and society in Nepal. The global scope and multinational team of the organization allows it to be engaged with actors and projects with a similar mission and vision.

About the DKI EOM:

The DKI has observed four elections successfully in Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Denmark and Nepal. The mission will observe how the elections are conducted within a bureaucratic scope. The observers will pay close attention to the election process, campaign activities, the work of election administration and relevant government bodies, including administration of voter registration and resolution of election disputes. Media monitoring may also be a part of the observation.

Meetings with representatives of federal and state authorities, political parties, as well as the representatives of judiciary, civil society and media take place during the observation mission. On election day, observers are deployed in polling stations and several electoral colleges throughout the country. During its work the mission will publish an interim report. A statement of preliminary findings and conclusions will be presented at a press conference the day after the elections. A final report briefing the observation’s work during the entire electoral process will be published after the election is concluded. The DKI does not interfere with the political matters of the host country during the election, rather observes the bureaucratic procedures of the election.

The DKI is currently offering a short-term election observation which lasts between 7 to 15 days. During this time the EOM is sent to the country of elections to observe the process and prepare a report. Although the roles will be allocated based on experience and area of expertise, please note that the following positions are open:

  • Administrative:
  1. Front Office assistant
  2. Field worker
  3. Journalist
  4. Photographer
  • Regional:

The nature of the mission requires the volunteers to travel to the election held country and be present throughout the election. These positions will take place within a determinate and definite amount of time. The tasks should be handled prior to, during and after the elections.

Requirements for volunteers:

  • Be enrolled or have completed at least Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Legal Studies, and Journalism.
